Thousands Of Patriots Turn Out At Code Red Rally

Thousands of patriots from all over the United States turned out at Code Red Rally held at Upper Senate Park in Washington DC on Tuesday December 15. The main speaker was radio host and FOX News commentator Laura Ingraham with a surprise guest appearance by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Other speakers included Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla) and Jim DeMint (R-SC).

They charged up the crowd who chanted "kill the bill" throughout the event. Following the rally, participants walked across the street to urge their senators to vote against the Democrat's Health Care Reform Bill that the majority of Americans appose.

Patriots who visited the senate offices were left to speak to staff aides as not one single Democrat senator was on hand, they had been summoned to the White House by Obama to discuss Health Care. Staff aides were condescending and gave the usual "the Senator appreciates your concerns" response. Well, I was privileged to visit senate offices with a feisty group of senior citizens who were having none of it. "Quit ignoring us! We pay your salaries! Tell your bosses that we will vote them out of office if they vote for this assault on the American People!" Said one fed up gentlemen.

At Olympia Snowe's office, her staffer told our group that the Senator has not yet reached a decision on how she is going to vote. Olympia Snowe is a so called Republican mind you. "Where is the senator?" One woman asked her. "Getting bought by Obama?" The staffer replied with her canned response. "I will take note of your concerns and let the Senator know how you feel." At this point a fired up elderly lady noticed that Snowe's staff had MSNBC on. "Well this explains Snowe's voting record" I said to the staffer." She very testily said "don't read anything into that." We left disgusted after she failed to respond to any of our concerns on Health Care but not before letting her know that we the people will hold Snowe and any other senator accountable for a yes vote on Health Care. It is important to note that later as we passed by Snowe's office, the channel had been changed to CSPAN.

Over at Lieberman's office, the line was a mile long to see the Senator who was missing in action after news broke that he is closer to voting yes on Senate Bill.

At Senator Nelson's office, constituents lined up to encourage the senator to keep his word on voting against bill if government funding for abortion is not take out.

At every senate office, staff aides reiterated the same old rhetoric claiming that they get an equal amount of calls and visits in support of the health care bill. "Where are they?" Tania Ashe, a patriot who had driven 14 hours to the rally asked. Moveon.org had touted that they were going to be at the Code Red Rally in support of the bill but they must have had a dismal showing because they were nowhere to be found. Staffers like their democratic bosses refused to acknowledge the plummeting support for the Democratic Health Care bill as seen in poll after poll and by the thousands of patriots who have shown up in DC since September to appose the bill.

One staffer who was asked by a constituent how her senator can support an unconstitutional bill that would impose fines and jail time to those who refuse to get health care, claimed that there was an amendment put in the bill that would prohibit that. To which I responded, "Please do not insult our intelligence." I belong to Team Sarah where four hundred members have taken the bill apart and read it. You cannot deceive us." Tania Ashe, also a Team Sarah member, who was fed up with being dismissed and lied to by these condescending staffers, said to her. "Show us the amendment." Exasperated the staffer agreed and disappeared through the doors leading to the back offices. She never returned. So much for backing up her statement with the facts.

Patriots who took the time from work, families and the holiday hustle and bustle, should be proud of their efforts. We showed up by the thousands to let Washington know where we stand. They have been put on notice and they will be held accountable for their actions. It's not our guns and our bibles that they should be worried about. One sign summed it up beautifully. "WE ARE ARMED AND DANGEROUS WITH OUR VOTE!"

ON THE ATTACK: Gibbs slammed Gallup's daily tracking poll that showed Obama's approval at the lowest point at this stage of any presidency since Truman's.

"I'm sure a six-year old with a crayon" could do the same thing, he said of Gallup, labeling it "the EKG that is the Gallup trend" and calling it "meaningless."

For that desperate comment, Gibbs earns the Baghdad Bob award for  his pathetic and frankly, embarrassing attempt to deny the obvious.

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Less than 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

Liberal Ignorance, Hate, and Intolerance: George Lopez Attacks Todd Palin

This is an excellent article defending the Palins on the recent attack by George Lopez and Joy Behar. First posted on November 29, 2009 by Vocal Minority. 

About one-third the way through Sarah Palin’s informative memoir, I’ve learned not only about her, but her husband Todd as well.

For you libs who prefer to bash Sarah’s book rather than actually read it, Todd is part Yupik Eskimo and worked on the icy shores of northern Alaska since childhood, where he learned to be self-sufficient and self-reliant. By the time he moved with his family to Wasilla, he had been one of the only teens in town to have earned enough to purchase his own car. After he and Sarah were married, he was so dedicated earning income for his family, he spent days away from Sarah and young Track and Bristol to work in the oil fields, and even missed Willow’s birth because of it.

In short, Todd Palin is in no way a “bum,” and was never destined to be.
Why do I bring this all up? Because last week (the 20th) the ignorant, hateful, and intolerant liberal “comedian” Joy Behar had on as guest the ignorant, hateful, and intolerant liberal “comedian” George Lopez. An agreeing Behar played clips from Lopez’s most recent HBO special, which included such gems as …

There are a lot of politicians that would be Latinos and a lot now who are Latino. Sarah Palin, Latina. Believe me. She’s got all the signs. She works and her husband don’t.

To add insult to injury, Lopez and Behar discussed Mr. Palin’s role as a stay-at-home dad.

LOPEZ: I mean, the concept of Todd Palin being a stay-at-home dad-listen Joy, when I was a kid, those guys were called bums.
BEHAR: Uh-huh. They’re still called bums.

I’m confused. For decades the left has worked incessantly to completely redefine the roles of men and women in the home and in the workplace. Isn’t that what libs wanted: for women to unabashedly take on traditional male roles and vice versa? That why was Sarah Palin slammed by the left during the ’08 campaign for “shafting her children” because she chose to work the tough long hours of political office?

Easy: Because only liberal women are to be praised for “doing it all.” Conservative women, on the other, are not “real women” according to many self-proclaimed feminists, so when they break the so-called glass ceiling, it doesn’t count.

And so it seems to be with Todd Palin. If a liberal/Democrat man played stay-at-home dad so the wife could have her career, he would most likely be make Time Magazine’s Man of the Year. But when a conservative/Republican does it, he’s a bum.

This is what passes for tolerant, civil, open-minded conversation for the left. But remember, it’s the Rush Limbaugh’s and Glenn Beck’s of the world who are poisoning the airwaves and TV.
Isn’t it easy to be a liberal? No equally applied set of rules, no principles, no decency. Just your own lies to spew inside the comfortable little bubble, dutifully echoed by other liberals until the lies are repeated often enough that they become truth.

Colleen Raezler at NewsBusters caught this excuse for a talk show and noted that Mr. Palin was described in the Washington Post—hardly a right-wing publication—very much like he is in his wife’s memoir:

Funny that even the liberal Washington Post admitted that Todd Palin was anything but a bum in a hit piece on him last year.

… But Todd Palin, 44, the ruggedly handsome four-time winner of the 2,000-mile Iron Dog snowmobile race, was already an Alaska star before his wife’s election in 2006. Along with his family duties, he held two jobs, working occasional 85-hour weeks as an oil production operator for BP and, for a month each summer, as a commercial salmon fisherman in Bristol Bay.

Lopez didn’t simply insult the Palins’ division of labor, but opened fire on her looks and other situations regarding her family after Behar asked him, “What other signs are there that Palin is Latino?”

“She has a child and a grandchild the same age, and the tell-tale sign is she needs to get her roots done,” Lopez replied.

Speaking of employment, the other day Rasmussen released a report regarding our ever-increasing unemployment rate: Of those Americans jobless and looking, 15% are Democrats, yet only 9.9% are Republican. (Those with no major party affiliation make up 15.6%.)
Eowyn, who blogs at Giovanni’s World, asks:

Anyone interested in providing an explanation for why more Democrats and Independents than Republicans are unemployed? Is it because Republicans are more likely to be self-employed businessmen/women?

That could be, but I think these statistics make perfect sense. I’d bet that in general more Dems are unemployed than Republicans, given the behavior and expectations of each (not every single person of course, but generally): Republicans don’t look for handouts from big government. They don’t care who’s president. They just work. Period.

Dems on the other hand have an ingrained entitlement mentality. They and the party they support have been weaned on “the government owes me.” Look at all the footage from Obamaniacs during and after the ‘08 campaign—they were just waiting for Obama to become president in order to hold their hand out and for nanny gov’t to give them something they didn’t earn—pay for their house, their food, their health care, etc.. Not long ago in Detroit thousands of poor people (mostly minorities) stood on line waiting to get, as one local news interviewee called it, “Obama money.” Why work? 

Think I’m generalizing? Think there are an equal number of Dems and Reps on the welfare rolls? Doubt it. You’d never see someone like Todd Palin going on welfare. But I’m sure the unfunny George Lopez and Joy Behar wouldn’t dare insult anyone taking welfare or waiting on line for “Obama money,” as long as they were good little Democrat-voters. (You know, real bums).

And now The Democrat leadership is punishing hard work and initiative through taxation and demonization of the evil “rich” who by means of the unfair capitalist system have stolen from the unemployed what’s rightfully theirs.

Sorry, call me mean-spirited but I’m calling it as I see it: Democrats being unemployed at a higher percentage than Republicans is no accident.

So let George Lopez deflect the actual problems plaguing Hispanics—high unemployment among males and sexual activity so rampant that teenage girls are making their mothers grandmothers at a relatively young age—by projecting it onto Sarah and Todd Palin. Let his left-leaning audience laugh, and let like-minded liberals like Joy Behar give him a forum to spew his hatred against two of the most decent and hard-working people currently in the public eye.

Because the truth is, George Lopez and Joy Behar, America is better off with folks like Sarah and Todd Palin than with either of you.

New Lefty Outrage: Gasp, Sarah Palin Flies in Planes!

Al Gore flies all across the world destroying the environment with his travels so that he can sell the fantasy of globaloney. Hundreds of government officials will be crisscrossing the globe flying to Copenhagen to "save the planet" at the upcoming Climate Conference this December. All are adding to what leftists call global warming and they are adding more in just the month of December alone with their efforts than any common citizen would in their entire lifetime.

So, what is the lefty outrage du jour? Is it that these so-called environmentalists are hypocrites? Nope. The newest outrage from the left is that Sarah Palin dares to fly from city to city during her whirlwind book tour.

I know. The nerve of her, eh?

At issue with Joey McGinniss' "shocking" expose is the bus that Palin has been using to get from one location to the next in the local areas during her book tour, but has flown the longer distances. Why is this such an outrage? Because Palin said this about her book tour when it began:

“I’ll post our progress from the road.”

According to McGinniss this proves that Palin is a liar about using the buss to cross the country on her book tour. Since she has at times been flying, apparently, McGinniss thinks that the "from the road" part of her post makes her a liar despite that it is quite common vernacular to use that phrase when discussing travel. Who says "from the air" when they are talking about traveling?

McGinniss then goes on to ask all sorts of "probing" questions about the flights. He wants to know who is paying for the flights, if she has anyone else on these planes with her, if she'll continue to fly, if she… well, let's just say he has a lot of questions.

And let's remind this left-wing hack that none of the answers to these questions are any of his business! Sarah Palin is a private individual dealing with a private business. She is not working for the taxpayers and her bills are paid for out of the profits of her book sales and/or the company that is publishing the work. Sarah Palin has absolutely no responsibility to answer to some twit in the press about her expenses.

If she wants to fly 20 different private jets to fly to 20 different cities, it is none of Joey McGinniss' business.

If Sarah Palin wants to drive 20 busses where ever she wants to ride them it is none of Joey McGinniss' business.

If Sarah Palin wants to ride a horse and buggy to every book stop it is none of Joey McGinniss' business.

Joey McGinniss has a tempest in a teapot all revved up and ready to outrage his extremist, left-wing buddies, to be sure, but he definitely has nothing of any note to write about. Must be a slow news day to be pushing this falderal.

But I guess it shouldn't be surprising. Joey McGinniss has been trying to get at Sarah since she debuted on the national scene. So, one wonders, how many books has Joey McGinniss' name sold?

First Update: Joshua Livestro and Doug Brady have more at C4P, including a very good breakdown on the distances between some of the stops on the first leg of the Going Rogue tour. When it made sense to fly (long distances between stops), Sarah Palin flew. When it made sense to ride the bus (shorter distances between stops), she stayed on the bus. Well, duh!

Only one very small nit to pick. The jet former Gov. Palin flew on is an entirely different plane from the aircraft she boarded for her trip to Asheville for her meeting and dinner with the Grahams. The latter was not a jet (at least not a "pure" jet), but a smaller turboprop which Franklin Graham dispatched to bring her from Roanoke to Asheville and back. Since her visit was at Billy Graham's request, it is entirely appropriate that the  Grahams  furinshed her transportation.

The leftist Palin-haters are going to have to wake up and realize that she is no longer governor of Alaska and therefore is now immune to their Cloward-Pliven crap. They can't file any more bogus complaints against her.

Second Update: HarperCollins spokesperson Tina Andreadis informed Greg Sargent that Sarah Palin had taken only three plane trips, that her plane travel was been minimal and only, as we pointed out previously, for logistical reasons. The publisher, not Palin, scheduled the plane trips and also paid for them. Other than the three flights, Sarah Palin's book signing travel was indeed done on the tour bus.

Palin-haters make themselves look petty, mean and desperately stupid again. End of story.

95 Year old WWII Vet gives OBama a piece of his mind.

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of.

You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

" We're no longer a Christian nation"

" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the world,"America is mean-spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness..)

I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing.  I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

institutions we lead to participate in or facilitate abortions, embryo-destructive research,

inherent, and equal dignity of every member of the human family.
Further, let it be known that we will not bend to any rule forcing us to bless immoral
sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from
proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality, marriage, and the family.
Further, let it be known that we will not be intimidated into silence or acquiescence or
the violation of our consciences by any power on earth, be it cultural or political,
regardless of the consequences to ourselves.

Michelle Malkin: Turkeys Of The Year

As we gather round the Thanksgiving table, bow our heads in prayer and feast on the holiday bird, it is only fitting to take a moment to fete the unforgettable turkeys of 2009.


1. The stimulus. Back in February, I wrote that if the trillion-dollar stimulus plan were a Thanksgiving dinner entree, it would be a Turbaconducken -- the heart attack-inducing dish of roasted chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey, all wrapped in endless slabs of bacon. And so it has come to pass. After the Democratic majority larded up the massive spending package with earmarks and bribes, President Obama declared it pork-free and has stubbornly touted its job creation benefits for out-of-work Americans.

Reality check? The Washington Examiner reports that more than 10 percent of the jobs the Obama administration claimed were "created or saved" by the stimulus are doubtful or imaginary. ABC News uncovered countless examples of bogus congressional districts listed as stimulus beneficiaries by the Obama stimulus tracking website, Recovery.gov. The money has been lavished on shady beauty schools in New Hampshire, prison inmates in Texas, and wind companies in Spain and China. Just this week, a California audit found that the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation overstated the number of jobs saved by federal stimulus dollars by upward of 13,000.

While this Generational Theft Act continues to soak up our tax dollars and add to our children's and grandchildren's debt, the Democratic majority is in the government kitchen cooking up a second stimulus turkey to provide federal infrastructure money to public-sector unions. Gobble, gobble.

2. President O-bow-ma. The candidate who pledged to restore America's standing in the world couldn't figure out how to stay standing in front of world leaders. In April, he crouched before Saudi King Abdullah. This month, he provoked global derision when he broke protocol and performed a spineless blunder in front of the Japanese emperor.

The kowtower-in-chief's body language reflected the administration's broader foreign policy prostrations -- including scrapping missile defense in the Czech Republic and Poland, canceling a meeting with the Dalai Lama to appease China, sitting on its hands this summer during the Iranian election protests, and unveiling the 9/11 show trials in New York City that will provide a circus platform for jihadis and international Bush-haters.

The left complained that George W. Bush was too much of a cowboy on the global stage. It's better than having a waterboy.

3. Green jobs czar Van Jones. This deep-fried turkey was recruited by Team Obama's Chicago consigliere Valerie Jarrett, who boasted about recruiting the Marxist rabble-rouser from Oakland. He openly crusaded to free Philadelphia death row cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, bashed capitalism with radical revolutionary rhetoric, and signed a 9/11 conspiracy petition that he meekly disavowed in a botched attempt to save his job. Jones is now at the Center for American Progress, run by Obama transition official and Democratic operative John Podesta.

The other turkey in the story, Val Jarrett, escaped unscathed and went on to push the Obamas into their failed crony campaign for the 2016 Olympics bid in Copenhagen -- a taxpayer-funded, hubris-infused debacle that ties with Van Jones for third biggest turkey of the year. Rio got the Games. America got a closer look at the pay-for-play patrons, power brokers and developers in the Windy City who have put an indelible Chicago stamp on the Potomac.

4. The New York Times. Scooped by Fox News, conservative blogs and talk radio on the exploding ACORN scandal, the paper whitewashed its own role in covering up the community organizing racket's financial shenanigans last fall when it cut off a reporter's investigation a few weeks before Election Day. Jill Abramson, the Times' managing editor for news, acknowledged that her staff was "slow off the mark" and blamed "insufficient tuned-in-ness to the issues that are dominating Fox News and talk radio." They assigned a new "opinion media monitor" to track the competition, but refused to identify the watchdog for fear that he/she would get too many mean, intrusive e-mails and phone calls.

More recently, the paper's website demonstrated that its real motto is "All the inconvenient news that's fit to suppress." The Times' lead environmental blogger, Andrew Revkin, haughtily refused to reprint damning e-mails leaked by a hacker in the burgeoning "ClimateGate" scandal. The documents reveal a long trail of manipulated data, but Revkin balked at the ill-gotten trove. The blabbermouths at the Times had no problem exposing national security secrets to undermine Bush. But shed light on scientific hoaxes that undermine Al Gore? Unethical!

5. Tea Party-bashers. Millions of ordinary, peaceful Americans joined the Tea Party movement to revolt against big government, backroom deals and the Beltway culture of corruption. For their exercise of free speech and free assembly, they were smeared nationwide. Tossing in a quite vulgar profanity (nothing new for her), Hollywood has-been Janeane Garofalo described them as "racist" and "backward." SEIU labor thug Dennis Rivera accused them of "terrorist tactics." CNN anchor Anderson Cooper used a vulgar sexual epithet to describe them. Team Obama's astroturfers declared all-out war on them.

For refusing to sit down and shut up in the face of such unhinged bigotry, and for exposing the foulness of the political fowl, I have two words for them: Thank you.

Sarah Palin A True Patriot & Leader Not A "Quitter."

The phenomenal success of Sarah Palin's book tour is driving the left wing into an uncontrollable hate frenzy. So how do they counter? ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK. They have resurrected the same old tired talking point of calling her a "quitter." Never mind that the daily barrage of frivolous law suits were forcing her to into deep debt and were interfering in the Governor's ability to manage her State, but she was also subjected to daily venomous attacks from the ankle biting media and bloggers who criticized her every move, every sentenced uttered and policy decisions. This coupled with her decision not to run for re-election was the reason she stepped down. She felt that her State could be better served without all the distractions brought on by the haters on the left. So she passed the reigns to her  lieutenant governor Sean Parnell, who is moving forward with her agenda with little interference from the hate mongers. Which goes to show you, it's not the message for these people, it is the messenger.

That's why I was so pleased to receive a tweet from a fellow Sarah Supporter, an American Patriot, who is equally tired of the left's trite use of the "quitter" label. He wrote the following response when a relative once again called her a "quitter." His response addresses this label beautifully and is an excellent analogy.

Why The Recent Task Force Panel Urging Mammograms at 50, Not 40 Is Very Telling About Inevitable Rationing If Health Care Reform Passes

Remember how the left wing media and pundits mocked Sarah Palin when she mentioned 'rationing' and 'death panels' in the Democrat Health Care Reform? The actual language was "Medical Review Board" for the elderly. However, it amounted to the same thing. The language disappeared from the Senate Finance Committee Bill due to the scruitiny only to reappear in Pelosi's bill.

Make no mistake about it. In order to cover the millions of new people with the same amount of doctors and to reduce costs, the Government plans to ration care.  Supporters of Health Care Reform will shout 'liars!' 'fear mongers!' To them, I say....Facts Are Stubborn Things.

How does the government plan to ration care? Well they can't do it blatantly because of the backlash. So they will do it slowly, quietly, in little bits and pieces off to the side, and maybe no one will notice.

Well, a new set of mammogram recommendations has just been issued, and it would appear to be a good example of such a sly attempt.


A government appointed group, U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), is no friend to women and the men who love them. It turns out this group is issuing recommendations for screening women for breast cancer that diverge substantially from what is in place now. Here are a few of the lowlights:

No more routine mammograms for women under 50. (Women under 50 do get breast cancer, and with younger women is it often a very aggressive type.)

Mammograms for women in their 50s and 60s are recommended every two years instead of the currently recommended annual exam. (Cancers can do a lot of growing in two years.)

Teaching or encouraging women to do self-exams is no longer recommended. (They say it has no value, but I know two women who were months away from their next exam when they felt something suspicious. For one, the cancer was aggressive and she would have been at Stage 4 before her next exam.)

Screening for women over 74 is not recommended at all. (Whaaaaaat?)

I have several friends who would be dead now were these recommendations to be in force. And the American Cancer Society and many other experts and authorities are outraged by this report.
The USPS Task Force apparently assumes that we all have the intelligence of a bag of hair. For example, why should women over 74 not be screened? Their astounding answer is, “More research is needed before recommendations for or against mammography screening after age 74 can be made.” Huh? That’s like saying, “Don’t have a check-up until you become really sick.” In the meantime, lots of those pesky old women might die, saving many millions of dollars. And this outfit has the balls to call itself The U S Preventive Services Task Force?

Another example: The Task Force contends that having fewer mammograms will cause women less anxiety. True, the procedure is unpleasant, but it takes only a few minutes and then it’s over for a year. And call-backs and false positives do extend the anxiety. But, in the meantime how many more would have to go through the intense anxiety of dealing with breast cancer?

Final example: The Task Force notes that “1,904 women between the ages of 39 and 49 would need to be invited for screening to have one breast cancer death prevented; 1,339 women between the ages of 50 and 59 would need to be invited for screening to prevent one death; and 377 women between the ages of 60 and 69 would need to be invited for screening to prevent one death.” OK, I don’t have a clue what “invited for screening” means, but the wording is clearly meant to make us believe that screening doesn’t save all that many lives. Hold the phone! Is it not possible that they didn’t die because they were screened and were treated successfully? (Five out of the six women with breast cancer that I know well survived and remain cancer free.)

Oh, and by the way, this task force did not include an oncologist.

And we are not talking about a condition that is uncommon. According to the CDC, except for the typically curable and often minor forms of skin cancer, the number one type of cancer in women is breast cancer. For Hispanic women, breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death. For white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women, it is the second major cause of cancer death. However, overall deaths from breast cancer are low on the list of all causes of death for women, and one just has to suspect that regular mammogram screening has a lot to do with that.

Everyone including members of this renegade task force agree that mammograms save lives—but the Task Force is saying not enough to count. If they can manage to force their recommendations into Health Care Reform (certainly the bottom line is to do that) so that Medicare and private insurance don’t have to pay for the recommendations currently in force, then a lot of insurance and government money could be saved at the expense, of course, of women.

In the meantime, I wonder if PSA tests for detecting prostate cancer will get the same overhaul? ( I wouldn’t hold my breath.)

Breaking News - First Vote on Reid's Health Care Bill is 8 PM on Saturday

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed cloture and scheduled a vote on his “mammoth" 2,074-page health care reform bill (H.R. 3590) at 8 PM on Saturday. The Democrats wish to rush the vote before Senators return home for Thanksgiving. If the bill passes then it would wind up in conference with the House and with only the Democrats crafting the final compromise bill suitable to just the Democrats because no Republican or Conservative democrat votes would be needed. Well now we will see if the Republicans stand strong and if old lions like Sen Joe Lieberman and other conservatives will stand tough and defeat this bill.

No amendments but the Republicans were able to "wrangled 10 hours of debate out of Democrats" instead of their original plan to debate for an hour and slip out of town. One Republican Senate aide  related "Now the American people will have all day to understand what this vote means and potentially persuade some Democrats why it would be a bad vote." As Reported by Roll Call  “Under the rules, we would only have been entitled to one hour of debate before the vote. Now we have all day to flip one Democrat,” the aide said. “The reading would've been to an empty chamber after the vote had happened, press would've gone home, and Americans would've turned the channel. Now it's show time.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday afternoon set the procedural wheels in motion for a crucial vote on a major health care reform bill Saturday night at 8 p.m. and scored a coup by apparently persuading Republicans to abandon their plans to have the entire 2,074-page bill read aloud on the Senate floor.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Thursday afternoon, Reid filed a motion to limit debate, or invoke cloture, on the motion to proceed to a House-passed tax bill that will serve as a shell for the $848 billion Senate health care measure that he unveiled Wednesday.

In doing so, Reid also asked for and received the consent of Republicans to avoid more votes this week as well as a threatened, lengthy reading of the Senate bill. Reid’s move means the Senate will wrap up work Saturday and avoid coming into session next week.

Reid needs the votes of all 60 Members of the Democratic Conference in order to beat back a filibuster on the motion to proceed to the debate, given the unanimous opposition of all 40 Republicans in the chamber. Sixty votes are needed to invoke cloture.

One senior Senate Republican aide said the GOP leadership agreed to forego the reading of the Senate bill as well as separate, simple majority vote on starting debate on the bill in exchange for an all-day debate on the measure Saturday.

To begin debate on this new version of Obamacare, Reid will play a shell game. He needs 60 senators to “vote to proceed” to an unrelated piece of legislation, and once he clears that hurdle he will strike that bill’s text and insert his new health care bill. But don’t be fooled by senators that will say they oppose a government takeover but just wanted to allow debate on health care, they are not being honest.The simple fact is this: Any senator that votes to proceed to the Reid-Obama bill is voting for a government takeover of health care.

Why? Because, President Obama and Harry Reid cannot pass a government takeover without clearing 60 vote procedural hurdles in the Senate — but they also know that vulnerable Democrats likely cannot win reelection if they vote for this unpopular bill. So they want all Democrats to stick together on the vote to proceed, then some Democrats will vote against final passage of the bill and claim they tried to stop it.

Senators who say they just want to allow for debate are trying to deceive their voters while giving President Obama the crucial votes he needs to pass a government takeover of health care.

Voters should be watching and remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover.
