How Gullible Does The Obama Campaign Think Their Base Is? Dinner Anyone?

I still can't figure out how I got on the Obama Campaign's email list but I just received this one and it's a doosy. It just goes to show you that they are convinced that their base has the IQ of a guppy. Frankly, I would be insulted...... but then again these are the folk that elected him in the first place.

Nikki --

I've set aside time for four supporters like you to join me for dinner.

Most campaigns fill their dinner guest lists primarily with Washington lobbyists and special interests.

We didn't get here doing that, and we're not going to start now. We're running a different kind of campaign. We don't take money from Washington lobbyists or corporate PACs -- we never have, and we never will.

We rely on everyday Americans giving whatever they can afford -- and I want to spend time with a few of you.

So if you make a donation today, you'll be automatically entered for a chance to be one of the four supporters to sit down with me for dinner. Please donate $5 or more today:

https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner-with-Barack

We'll pay for your flight and the dinner -- all you need to bring is your story and your ideas about how we can continue to make this a better country for all Americans.

This won't be a formal affair. It's the kind of casual meal among friends that I don't get to have as often as I'd like anymore, so I hope you'll consider joining me.

But I'm not asking you to donate today just so you'll be entered for a chance to meet me. I'm asking you to say you believe in the kind of politics that gives people like you a seat at the table -- whether it's the dinner table with me or the table where decisions are made about what kind of country we want to be.

It starts with a gift of whatever you can afford.

Please make a donation of $5 or more today, and we'll throw your name in the hat for the upcoming dinner:

https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner-with-Barack

I've said before that I want people like you to shape this campaign from the very beginning -- and this is a chance for four people to share their ideas directly with me.

Hope to see you soon,

Barack

Gag Me! Obama Camp Pandering Dream Act To Drum Up Campaign Contributions

Posted by Cecilia Trent

I have no Idea how the Obama Campaign got my email, but imagine my surprise when I received this in my in box. It wasn't bad enough that his mug was all over the news channels this morning as he blatantly regurgitated lie after lie about his so called accomplishments in making the border safer while shamelessly attacking Republicans for standing in the way of immigration reform, but now I had to read more of the same ridiculous assertions from his campaign. Honestly, they must actually believe that their base lacks any hint of intelligence or common sense. This guy had majorities in both houses of Congress for two years, yet he failed to act on immigration reform but now that he is in campaign mode it's suddenly top priority for him and it's the big bad racist Republicans that are standing in the way. Nothing like a little demonizing to push your Dream Act agenda while filling up the campaign coffers. How Obama-esque!

Cecilia --

I went to El Paso, Texas, today to lay out a plan to do something big: fix America's broken immigration system.

It's an issue that affects you, whether you live in a border town like El Paso or not. Our immigration system reflects how we define ourselves as Americans -- who we are, who we will be -- and continued inaction poses serious costs for everyone.

Those costs are human, felt by millions of people here and abroad who endure years of separation or deferred dreams -- and millions more hardworking families whose wages are depressed when employers wrongly exploit a cheap source of labor. That's why immigration reform is also an economic imperative -- an essential step needed to strengthen our middle class, create new industries and new jobs, and make sure America remains competitive in the global economy.

Because this is such a tough problem -- one that politicians in Washington have been either exploiting or dodging, depending on the politics -- this change has to be driven by people like you.

Washington won't act unless you lead.

So if you're willing to do something about this critical issue, join our call for immigration reform now. Those who do will be part of our campaign to educate people on this issue and build the critical mass needed to make Washington act:

http://my.barackobama.com/Immigration-Reform

In recent years, concerns about whether border security and enforcement were tough enough were among the greatest impediments to comprehensive reform. They are legitimate issues that needed to be addressed -- and over the past two years, we have made great strides in enhancing security and enforcement.

We have more boots on the ground working to secure our southwest border than at any time in our history. We're going after employers who knowingly break the law. And we are deporting those who are here illegally. I know the increase in deportations has been a source of controversy, but I want to emphasize that we are focusing our limited resources on violent offenders and people convicted of crimes -- not families or people looking to scrape together an income.

So we've addressed the concerns raised by those who have stood in the way of progress in the past. And now that we have, it's time to build an immigration system that meets our 21st-century economic needs and reflects our values both as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants.

Today, we provide students from around the world with visas to get engineering and computer science degrees at our top universities. But then our laws discourage them from using those skills to start a business or a new industry here in the United States. That just doesn't make sense.

We also need to stop punishing innocent young people for the actions of their parents -- and pass the DREAM Act so they can pursue higher education or become military service members in the country they know as home. We already know enormous economic benefits from the steady stream of talented and hardworking people coming to America. More than a century and a half ago, U.S. Steel's Andrew Carnegie was a 13-year-old brought here from Scotland by his family in search of a better life. And in 1979, a Russian family seeking freedom from Communism brought a young Sergey Brin to America -- where he would become a co-founder of Google.

Through immigration, we've become an engine of the global economy and a beacon of hope, ingenuity and entrepreneurship. We should make it easier for the best and brightest not only to study here, but also to start businesses and create jobs here. That's how we'll win the future.

Immigration is a complex issue that raises strong feelings. And as we push for long-overdue action, we're going to hear the same sort of ugly rhetoric that has delayed reform for years -- despite long and widespread recognition that our current system fails us all and hurts our economy.

So you and I need to be the ones talking about this issue in the language of hope, not fear -- in terms of how we are made stronger by our differences, and can be made stronger still.

Take a moment now to watch my El Paso speech and join this campaign for change:

Barf Alert!! Lawrence O'Donnell Gets Emotional Defending Planned Parenthood

In my defense, I normally would not get caught dead visiting the likes of Huffpost Media, as one general feels compelled to wash off the filth upon leaving the site. However, I couldn't resist. The headline was just too tempting. Lawrence Odonell getting teary eyed on the air defending Planned Parenthood? Really?. Good grief! Below is the story from Huffpost Media  Continue if you can contain the bile rising up in your throat.

Lawrence O'Donnell mounted a highly emotional and personal defense of Planned Parenthood on his Friday show. The organization is under attack from Republicans, and, as the deadline for government shut down looms closer and closer, its federal funding has been the last major obstacle to a budget deal between Republicans and Democrats.

O'Donnell first zeroed in on Sen. Jon Kyl's assertion (which he was later forced to retract) that 90 percent of Planned Parenthood's services are abortion related. He called Kyl a "nice guy" who had told a "horrible lie" that he said was fed to him by "fanatical enemies of Planned Parenthood who hate the idea that the word 'planned' should ever come before the word 'parenthood.'"

O'Donnell then showed charts which demonstrated that, actually, only around three percent of the organization's resources go towards abortion services, with the rest going to various screening and sexual health services. He said that Kyl's false statement would not be forgotten.
"Lies that big...do not go unnoticed in the Senate," he said. "Jon Kyl will never again be trusted by Senators, including Republican Senators, as a source of reliable facts."

O'Donnell then turned to an email which he said came from a friend of his who used Planned Parenthood. He read the email out from his Blackberry, and as he did so, his hands, and his voice, started shaking with emotion. The friend's email recounted her dire financial straits and history of medical illnesses. Planned Parenthood, she wrote, was the place she went for her mammograms, her birth control and her cancer screenings.

"It's terrifying to think that with lack of funds, millions of women would not have access to this kind of care," the friend wrote.

"I can't imagine what I would do without Planned Parenthood. Talking about what they do is part of your job right now...please yell some sense into these people."

As O'Donnell said those last words, his voice broke perceptibly, and he then dropped the blackberry shaking in his hands, and turned away from the camera.
